Washington State Changes Regulations for the Sale of Spirits
With the passage of Initiative 1183, the Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) will cease state liquor store and liquor distribution operations by June 1, 2012. Contract liquor stores - which are operated by small business owners - may continue to sell spirits, but all state-run liquor stores will be closed. The private sector will be allowed to sell and distribute spirits with the proper liquor licenses. Several laws related to the three-tier system will also be changed.
In response to the new opportunity to sell spirits in Washington, many retailers and distributors are engaging the Fintech OneSource solution for data and electronic payments to settle the invoices that will arise from these new or expanded relationships.Industry leading distributors such as Southern Wine & Spirits of Washington and LeVecke Corporation have contracted with Fintech to process Spirits invoices electronically in Washington.
